Samsung today announced a major restructuring, streamlining its businesses into two major groups as the company deals with the slowing global economy.
Samsung CEO Lee Yoon-Woo will oversee a new Device Solution division combining the semiconductor and LCD businesses. The company also plans a Digital Media and Communications division to be headed by Choi Gee-Sung, bringing together under one umbrella televisions, cell phones and other consumer electronics such as printers, computers and home appliances.

Mr. Choi has been president of the company's cell phone operation for the last two years and led the TV and video business before that.
